Lions Wrap Up Regular Season with Road Games at UNO, Nicholls

Southeastern tuning up for Southland tournament

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Southeastern Louisiana wraps up the 2015-16 regular season this week with a pair of doubleheaders, Thursday at the University of New Orleans and Saturday at Nicholls.

Southeastern (10-19, 8-8 Southland) tips at 7:45 Thursday at UNO (9-18, 5-11 Southland), following the Lady Lions' game. Saturday's contest at Nicholls (8-22, 4-12 Southland) is slated for 3:30 p.m. at Stopher Gym in Thibodaux, Louisiana.

Last time out, Jordan Capps dominated the University Center paint, scoring 29 points and hauling in 19 rebounds to lead Southeastern Louisiana to an 84-82 Southland Conference win over Northwestern State this past Monday in the Lions' home finale.

Zay Jackson, a native of Hammond, Louisiana, leads Southeastern in scoring this season with an average of 12.9 points per game and is third in the Southland Conference with 5.2 assists per game. Capps (9.5 ppg, 6.0 Rebounds per game), JaMichael Hawkins (9.0 ppg) and Joshua Filmore (8.7 ppg) round out the Lions' top scorers.

Southeastern is shooting 45.8 percent (742-of-1,620) from the floor this season, ranking third in the Southland. The Lions have hit 36.4 percent (206-of-566) from 3-point range, are 396-of-621 (63.8 percent) from the free throw line and have been out-rebounded by opponents, on average, 35.3-to-34.6 per game.

Christavious Gill (14.0 ppg), Erik Thomas (11.6 ppg, 6.8 rpg) and Nate Frye (9.9 ppg) lead the Privateers.

UNO is shooting 41.7 percent (682-of-1,636) from the floor this season, including 33.6 percent (137-of-408) from 3-point range. The Privateers have hit 517-of-744 (69.5 percent) from the free throw line and have out-rebounded opponents, on average, 38.0-to-37.6 per game.

Ja'Dante Frye (13.0 ppg, 4.8 rpg), T.J. Carpenter (12.2 ppg, 5.2 rpg) and Liam Thomas (8.9 ppg, 4.9 rpg) are the Colonels top players.

Nicholls is shooting 41.8 percent (691-of-1,652) from the floor this season, including 30.8 percent (191-of-620) from 3-point range. The Colonels have hit 440-of-677 (65.0 percent) from the free throw line and have been out-rebounded by opponents, on average, 39.6-to-33.1 per game.

Southeastern has locked up the No. 5 seed in next week's Southland Conference Tournament and will play a to-be-determined No. 8 seed at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

General admission tickets for the first three rounds are $15 apiece. Tickets to each men's and women's championship games are $10 for general admission. Tickets for each session and the championships are available through the Southeastern Louisiana Athletics Ticket Office.
