Lions Look To Extend Winning Streak At Central Arkansas

Southeastern has won back-to-back games for first time this season

CONWAY, Ark. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team looks to capitalize on the momentum of its first winning streak as it takes on Central Arkansas in a Southland Conference contest Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Farris Center.

Southeastern (5-17, 3-6 Southland) faces the Bears (4-15, 3-6 Southland) for the first of two times this season. Last year teams split the season series, with each winning on their home court.

The Southeastern Sports Radio Network broadcast, with Lance Pittman on the call, can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 FM, online at www.LionSports.net or via the TuneIn Radio app. Fans can also follow live statistics. Links for audio, video and stats are available on both the front page and basketball schedule page at www.LionSports.net.

Southeastern used a balanced attack to knock off Abilene Christian, 81-60, this past Saturday at the University Center, giving the Lions back-to-back wins. Five players scored in double figures, including Jordan Capps who turned in his second double-double in as many games (13 points, 13 rebounds).

Zay Jackson, a senior from Hammond, Louisiana, leads Southeastern in scoring this season with an average of 12.3 points per game and is fourth in the Southland Conference with 4.9 assists per game. This season Southeastern is shooting 45.6 percent (545-of-1195) from the floor, ranking third in the Southland. The Lions have hit 34.4 percent (147-of-427) from 3-point range, are 297-of-471 (63.1 percent) from the free throw line and have been out-rebounded by opponents, on average, 36.0-to-33.2 per game.

Jordan Howard leads Central Arkansas in scoring, and is second in the conference with an average of 20.2 points per game. Three other players, Derreck Brooks (12.2 ppg, 5.7 rpg), Justin Foreman (10.4 ppg, 4.8 rpg) and Mathieu Kamba (10.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg), are also contributing double-digit points to the Bears' offensive efforts.
