GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's basketball team closed out its non-conference schedule with a 102-51 loss to Florida on Wednesday night at the Exactech Arena.
Southeastern fell to 2-9 overall with its sixth straight loss. The Lady Lions were forced into 33 turnovers and Florida (9-4) finished the game with a 64-20 scoring advantage in the paint.
"We knew that Florida was going to present some problems with their length and athleticism," Southeastern head coach
Errol Gauff said. "We knew keeping them out of the paint was going to be especially important and we just weren't able to do that."
Gauff says he continued to learn about his young team. The Lady Lions braved a non-conference slate that included Florida, Baylor, Colorado, Colorado State, Ole Miss and Houston under their first-year coach.
"One thing I can say for this group is that I can count on them to compete every time out," Gauff said. "These young ladies are learning lessons about handling adversity that aren't just going to help us as we continue to grow this program, but benefit them as individuals for life."

Baylie Stears and freshman guard
Courtney Dawsey shared game-high honors with eight points apiece, while junior guard

Florida opened the game with a 14-2 run and never looked back, building a 36-10 lead after the opening quarter. The second quarter saw Florida push the lead to 34, as the Gators lead at halftime, 57-22.
Southeastern was only outscored by three in the third quarter and trailed after three quarters,77-40. UF outscored the Lady Lions, 25-11, in the fourth quarter, as Florida doubled up SLU with the 51-point final margin.
