THIBODAUX, La. – Nicholls rallied from a set down to win in five over Southeastern Louisiana in Southland Conference volleyball action Thursday at Stopher Gym, 25-21, 23-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-12.
After dropping the first set, the Lady Lions (5-19, 4-7 Southland) bounced back to take the next two. Nicholls (7-20, 2-9 Southland) responded by taking the fourth and fifth sets.
Madi Odom, a senior from Kingwood, Texas, led four Lady Lions in double figures, tallying a career-best 18 kills.
Landry Bullock, a senior from Spring, Texas, added 17.
Chloee Holden, a freshman from Alvin, Texas, chipped in 13 and
Rachael Bunn, a senior from San Juan Capistrano, California, posted 10 kills.
Bullock's 17 kills give her 865 in her career, pushing her into 10th place all-time at Southeastern.
Setter
Haley Baker, a sophomore from Elkton, Maryland, dished out a career-high 51 assists while directing the Southeastern offensive attack. Baker (14 digs) joined Odom (15 digs) in turning in a double-double performance.
With two blocks assists, Bunn moved into sole possession of third place on the Lady Lions' all-time block assist list (261) and tied for fourth in total blocks (299).
Monica Ramon, a sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, led the Lady Lions with 21 digs, while
Macey Stock, a sophomore from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, contributed 19 digs to Southeastern's defensive efforts.
Kaci Eaton (15 kills, 13 digs), Kali Schwartz (14 kills, 18 digs) and Stephanie Tobison (11 kills, 11 digs) all recorded double-doubles for the Colonels.
Jade Piper (16 assists), Lucija Barac (16 assists) and Emily Venable (10 assists) split the setting duties for Nicholls.
Schwartz had a hand in six of the Colonels nine team blocks, while Alexa Perry led all players with 26 digs.
The teams split the season series, with the Lady Lions having won in four sets back on Oct. 11 in Hammond, Louisiana.
Southeastern faces McNeese (9-17, 5-6 Southland) at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Gym in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
