NATCHITOCHES, La. – Southeastern Louisiana senior forward
Nanna Pool recorded her seventh double-double of the season but Northwestern State countered with four players in double figures for an 82-62 Southland Conference win in Prather Coliseum Saturday afternoon.
   Northwestern State (12-9, 6-4) snapped a three-game losing streak while sending Southeastern (3-16, 2-6) to its fourth straight loss overall and its 16
th straight road defeat in conference play.
   Pool finished with 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field and added 11 rebounds and a season-high four assists. Kaelynn Boyd was the only other Lady Lion in double figures with 10 points. She also had a team-high six assists and two steals.
Taylin Underwood added nine points and three assists while
Erica Hernandez had another four assists. Southeastern finished with 16 assists and 33 rebounds while shooting 44.2 percent but also turned the ball over 20 times.
   Beatrice Attura had a game-high 21 points for Northwestern State. Cheyenne Brown added 16 points and six rebounds while Keisha Lee had 13 points and Janelle Perez 12. Attura and Lee each had six assists while Perez and Shahd Abboud contributed five apiece as the Lady Demons finished with 26 overall.
Abboud also had nine of the team's 33 rebounds. Northwestern State shot 50 percent from the field and had just 12 turnovers.
   Northwestern State led for 36:58 of the game. Southeastern took its only lead at 10-8 on a Hernandez jumper with 4:54 left in the first quarter. Perez put the Lady Demons back up with a 3 24 seconds later. That was the start of a 14-3 run that saw Northwestern State take a 22-13 lead on an Attura layup with 14 seconds left in the period.
   A
Bre Warren 3 pulled Southeastern to within 24-18 with 7:40 left in the first half. But Northwestern State countered with a 9-0 run, going up 33-18 on a Lee jumper at the 6:21 mark. The Lady Lions twice got the deficit down to 10, the second time at 37-27 on a Pool layup with 2:47 left. But the Lady Demons closed the half on an 8-1 surge, taking a 45-28 lead into the half on an Attura layup with 12 seconds remaining.
   Northwestern State took its biggest advantage at 60-36 on an Attura layup at the 4:02 mark of the third quarter. A Boyd 3 started a 12-4 run for Southeastern that got the margin down to 64-48 going into the fourth quarter on a Pool jumper at the buzzer.
   But the Lady Lions could only get as close as 66-52 in the fourth quarter on a Boyd layup with 8:42 remaining. Northwestern State built the margin back to 80-58 on an Attura laup with 1:54 left.
   Southeastern will look to end its losing streak when the Lady Lions close out a four-game road trip at Central Arkansas on Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
