Lions Face Northwestern State Before Monday's Jam The Jungle

Southeastern hosts McNeese Monday night

NATCHITOCHES, La. – Southeastern Louisiana faces a pair of in-state Southland Conference opponents in the next three days, taking on Northwestern State at 3 p.m. Saturday in Prather Coliseum before hosting McNeese State at 7 p.m. Monday for Jam the Jungle.

The Lions (3-16, 1-5 Southland) face Northwestern State (4-14, 1-7 Southland) for the 131st time in school history with the Demons leading the all-time series, 83-47.

Monday's 7 p.m. game against McNeese (5-12, 3-4 Southland) is the annual Jam the Jungle game. More information is available on the promotions page at www.LionSports.net. Students and campus organizations can also earn points toward their new Lion Up Loyalty account at Monday's game just by checking-in on the mobile app while in attendance.

Last time out Southeastern fell by 10 to conference-leading Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 73-63.

Marlain Veal followed up a career high in points with 16 to lead the Lions. Jordan Capps (13), Joshua Filmore (12), JaMichael Hawkins (11) and Dimi Cook (10) also reached double digits. Filmore grabbed a career-high seven rebounds to lead the squad.

Zay Jackson leads Southeastern in scoring this season with an average of 12.9 points per game and is sixth in the Southland Conference with 4.6 assists per game. Filmore (9.0 ppg), a junior from Orlando, Florida, Hawkins (7.6 ppg) and Mo Greenwood (7.3 ppg) round out the Lions' top healthy scorers.

This season Southeastern is shooting 44.7 percent (456-of-1021) from the floor which ranks fourth in the Southland. The Lions have hit 34.2 percent (127-of-371) from 3-point range, are 256-of-413 (62 percent) from the free throw line and have been out-rebounded by opponents, on average, 36.7-to-33.0 per game.

Zeek Woodley (22.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg) leads the Demons, and the conference, in scoring. He's joined by Sabri Thompson (11.6 ppg) and Ishmael Lane (11.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg).

This season Northwestern State is shooting 45.1 percent (483-of-1072) from the floor which ranks third in the Southland. The Demons have hit 34.6 percent (124-of-358) from 3-point range, are 296-of-392 (75.5 percent) from the free throw line and have been out-rebounded by opponents, on average, 40.4-to-32.2 per game.

Southeastern returns to the University Center floor, Feb. 1, against McNeese for the annual Jam the Jungle game.

Courtside Top Cat seats are $25 while general admission tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children (age 3-12).
