CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team opens Southland Conference play with a pair of matches Thursday and Saturday in Texas, traveling to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Houston Baptist.
Southeastern (6-7, 0-0 Southland) matches up against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (12-4, 1-0 Southland) at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and Houston Baptist (7-7, 0-0 Southland) at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Last time out, the University of Houston broke a tie midway through the final set to defeat Southeastern Louisiana, 20-25, 25-15, 25-18, 23-25, 15-10, at the Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup and snap the Lady Lions' four-match winning streak.

The Islanders are coming off a straight-sets win over Prairie View A&M, 25-14, 25-12, 25-14, Tuesday at the Dugan Wellness Center.
Ivy Baresh (3.44 k/set), Kelsee Felux (2.98 k/set), Brittany Gilpin (2.49 k/set) and Kristyn Nicholson (10.63 a/set) lead the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi offense. Kate Klepetka (6.14 d/set) leads the squad in digs while Gilpin (0.76 b/set), Morgan Carlson (0.74 b/set) and Madeleine Doud (0.71 b/set) are the top blockers.
Houston Baptist has dropped its last three matches heading into Thursday's Southland opener against the University of New Orleans.
Jessica Wooten (3.13 k/set), Bailey Banks (2.49 k/set) and Kayla Armer (9.50 a/set) are the offensive leaders for the Huskies. Blair Gillard (0.96 b/set) and Allison Doerpinghaus (0.94 b/set) lead the front row defense while Wooten (2.94 d/set) and Hailey Erickson (2.71 d/set) anchor the back row.
Southeastern returns Tuesday to the University Center, hosting UL Lafayette at 7 p.m. in a non-conference match.
