THIBODAUX, La. – Nicholls State junior right-hander Justin Sinibaldi shut out Southeastern Louisiana, 4-0, Sunday in Southland Conference action at Ray E. Didier Field.
The loss snaps a seven-game winning streak by Southeastern (22-8, 9-3 Southland), but the Lions maintain their hold on first place in the conference standings by a half game over Northwestern State.
Nicholls (14-12-1, 5-7 Southland), coached by former Lion assistant Seth Thibodeaux, won for the first time in four games against Southeastern.
The Colonels got the only run they would need in the first inning. Justin Holt singled up the middle leading off the bottom of the inning. He stole second base on a pickoff throw to first and came home to score on Kyle Reese's one-out single to right field.
Nicholls would pick up two more runs in the seventh, and add an unearned run in the eighth, to close out the scoring.
Sinibaldi (5-1) picked up the win, going the distance for the second time this season.
Kyle Cedotal (3-2) was the hard-luck loser, surrendering a pair of runs on on seven hits. He walked one and fanned six.

Southeastern returns to action Thursday at 6 p.m., hosting Northwestern State in the opening game of a three-game conference series at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. The series will be a showdown between the top two teams in the Southland.
General admission tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for youth (ages 3-12). Children younger than three are admitted free with a paying adult. Southeastern students are also admitted free with their university ID card.
