Lions Host Bears For Faculty/Staff Appreciation

First of two games between SLU, UCA this season

HAMMOND, La. – Fresh off a Southland Conference road victory at Abilene Christian, the Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball squad returns to the University Center Tuesday for a 7 p.m. conference matchup with Central Arkansas on Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night.

Southeastern (6-16, 3-6 Southland) and the Bears (1-19, 1-8 Southland) face each other for the first of two times this season.

The game can be heard in the Hammond, Louisiana, area on KSLU 90.9 FM, online and either the KSLU or TuneIn Radio smartphone apps. Live statistics will be provided, as will streaming video on LionVision (subscription required). Senior center DeVonte Upson is coming off a career-best performance in the Lions' 65-52 win at Abilene Christian, helping end a four-game skid. The Amarillo, Texas, native dumped in a career-high 24 points and also hauled in a game-high nine rebounds against the Wildcats this past Saturday.

Zay Jackson (15.7 points per game), Upson (10.2 ppg) and Onochie Ochie (8.5 ppg) lead Southeastern on offense. Upson is averaging a team-best 7.7 rebounds per contest, fourth most in the Southland.

The Lions are shooting 43.9 percent from the floor (539-of-1,227), 30.2 percent from three-point range (132-of-437) and 66.7 percent on free throws (272-of-408). Southeastern is averaging 67.4 points and 34 rebounds per game.

UCA is coming off its first win of the season, a 70-67 conference victory over the University of New Orleans this past Saturday. Jordan Howard (15.9 ppg), Mike Martin (11.8 ppg, 4.2 rpg) and Jake Zuilhof (10.4 ppg, 5.8 rpg) are the team's top threats.

The Bears are shooting 43.5 percent from the floor (452-of-1,040), 34.7 percent from three-point range (133-of-383) and 68 percent on free throws (299-of-440). UCA is averaging 66.8 points and 31.1 rebounds per game.

Courtside Top Cat seats are $25 for an individual game. General admission tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children (age 3-12). Southeastern students will be admitted free with a valid university ID card.

Following the game Southeastern will once again return to the road, traveling to in-state foes Nicholls State (Saturday) and McNeese State (Monday) for a pair of Southland contests.
