Lions Return To Hardwood After Christmas Break

Southeastern wraps up non-conference slate at Jackson State

JACKSON, Miss. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball squad returns to action Wednesday for the first time in nine days when it travels to Jackson State for its final non-conference contest of the regular season.

Tipoff is scheduled for approximately 7:30 p.m. at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center following the completion of the Jackson State-Lipscomb women's basketball game.

The Southeastern Sports Radio Network broadcast, with Lance Pittman on the call, can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 FM, online at www.LionSports.net or via the TuneIn Radio app.

Southeastern (2-10) is coming off a 75-62 loss at Georgia Tech on Dec. 21.

Zay Jackson, a native of Hammond, Louisiana, leads Southeastern in scoring this season with an average of 11.3 points per game and is third in the Southland Conference with 5.0 assists per game. Joshua Filmore (9.4 ppg), a junior from Orlando, Florida, and Mo Greenwood (7.0 ppg), a freshman from Sharon, Mississippi, round out the Lions' top healthy scorers.

This season Southeastern is shooting 43.7 percent (286-of-655) from the floor, including 31.8 percent (74-of-233) from 3-point range. The Lions are 161-of-261 (61.7 percent) from the free throw line and have been out-rebounded by opponents, on average, 36.2-to-34.2 per game.

Jackson State (4-8) has suffered several close losses this season, including a 72-67 defeat at Ohio (Dec. 17) the last time out.

Paris Collins (16.3 ppg, 6.4 rpg), Chace Franklin (11.8 ppg, 5.8 rpg) and Raeford Worsham (10.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg) are the Tigers' top players.

Jackson State is shooting 39.5 percent (324-of-821) from the floor, including 33.6 percent (96-of-286) from 3-point range. The Tigers are 104-of-170 (61.2 percent) from the free throw line and have out-rebounded opponents, on average, 41.2-to-40.3 per game.

Southeastern returns to the University Center, Jan. 4, to open conference play against defending Southland Conference champion Stephen F. Austin.

Courtside Top Cat seats are $25 for an individual game. General admission tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children (age 3-12). Southeastern students will be admitted free to home games with a valid university ID card.
