HAMMOND, La. – Sam Houston State defeated the Southeastern Louisiana volleyball squad in a Southland Conference match, 25-21, 25-19, 25-18, Thursday at the University Center.
Southeastern (11-16, 5-8 Southland) dropped its third-straight match while Sam Houston (12-15, 6-7 Southland) snapped a two-match losing streak.
Landry Bullock led the Lady Lions with seven kills and
Parrie Hartley chipped in six kills.
Mikayla Shippy (16 assists) and
Haley Baker (eight assists) split setting duties.
Monica Ramon's nine digs led the squad.
Jordyn Vaughn led all players with 14 kills. Michelle Griffith dished out 32 assists and had a hand in four of the Bearkats eight blocks. Claire Kilpatrick led all players with 16 digs.
Saturday's Senior Day match against Lamar is scheduled for 12 p.m. Five seniors,
Brooke Balser,
Shelby Devlin,
Mikayla Shippy,
Tiffany Thomas and
Veronica Turk, will be honored before Saturday's match. Saturday is also volleyball's Alumni Day and the Southeastern Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremonies.
Admission to all home volleyball matches is free this season. Southeastern students and campus organizations can earn points toward their new Lion Up Loyalty account at the match just by checking-in on the mobile app while in attendance.

Saturday's Alumni Day festivities, held in conjunction with the Hall of Fame ceremonies, begins with registration and lunch at 11 a.m. in room 125 of the University Center. Former Lady Lion volleyball player Denise Kubena Wyninger will be honored at the annual Hall of Fame reception and program later Saturday in the Hall of Champions, located on the University Center's main concourse. She, along with former softball player Rachel Ray Fitzgerald, will be officially inducted into the Southeastern Athletics Hall of Fame at halftime of that evening's football game against Incarnate Word in Strawberry Stadium.
