HAMMOND, La. – Returning from a week-long trip through the Barclay's Center Classic, Southeastern Louisiana hosts Loyola New Orleans in a non-conference basketball game at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the University Center.
Southeastern students are invited to take a study break at the game with special promotions, courtesy Southeastern Athletic Marketing and Promotions, designed to ease the stress of finals week. Students and campus organizations can also earn 10 points toward their new Lion Up Loyalty account at the exhibition game just by checking-in on the mobile app while in attendance.
The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 FM, online at www.LionSports.net or via the TuneIn Radio app. Fans can also watch the game live on LionVision, Southeastern's subscription-based video stream, or follow live statistics. Southeastern (1-6) is coming off a 62-60 loss at the hands of Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the Barclay's Center Classic this past Saturday.
Zay Jackson, a senior from Hammond, leads Southeastern in scoring this season with an average of 11 points per game.
Keith Charleston (8.7 ppg), a junior from Little Rock, Arkansas,
James Currington (7.7 ppg) and
Joshua Filmore (7.7 ppg), a junior from Orlando, Florida, round out the Lions' top scorers.
Charleston (25-for-40, .625) and Currington (22-for-39, .564), a sophomore from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, are second and fifth, respectively, in the Southland Conference in shooting percentage.
This season Southeastern is shooting 42.7 percent (162-of-379) from the floor, which ranks fourth-best in the Southland. The Lions are 36-of-125 (28.8 percent) from 3-point range, 93-of-145 (64.1 percent) from the free throw line and have been out-rebounded by opponents on average, 37.7-31.9 per game.
Loyola (4-3) dropped a 106-62 exhibition decision at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette the day before Thanksgiving.
Jalen Gray (17.7 ppg), Johnny Griffin, Jr., (15.3 ppg, 8.9 rpg), Tre'Von Jasmine (13.9 ppg) and Nick Parker (13.7 ppg) are the Wolfpack's top threats.
This season Loyola is shooting 44 percent (193-of-439) from the floor, including 31.5 percent (45-of-143) from 3-point range. The Wolfpack are 155-of-241 (64.3 percent) from the free throw line and are out-rebounding opponents on average, 46-38.1 per game.
