Surging Lady Lions Travel To Incarnate Word, Abilene Christian

Two-match streak moves SLU into fourth place in Southland

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team returns to the road this week for a pair of Southland Conference matches, 7 p.m. Thursday at Incarnate Word and 1 p.m. Saturday at Abilene Christian.

Southeastern (10-11, 4-3 Southland) has used a two-match winning streak to move into fourth place in the Southland. Last time out the Lady Lions shut down a late rally by in-state rival Northwestern State to claim a four-set Homecoming victory, 25-22, 25-17, 22-25, 25-23.

Landry Bullock (2.95 kills per set), Sarah Friedman (2.33 k/set) and Parrie Hartley (2.00 k/set) pace the Lady Lion offense this season under the direction of Mikayla Shippy (6.27 a/set) and Haley Baker (5.21 assists per set). Bullock ranks ninth in the conference in kills. Freshman Monica Ramon leads the team with 24 service aces, ranking her 10th in the Southland (0.34 per set).

Brooke Balser (3.53 d/set), Ramon (2.55 digs per set) and Madi Odom (2.09 d/set) anchor the back row defensively. Balser's average ranks 7th in the conference. Veronica Turk (0.66 b/set), Rachael Bunn (0.63 b/set) and Shelby Devlin (0.52 blocks per set) lead Southeastern's front-line defensive effort.

UIW (4-13, 2-6 Southland) has dropped back-to-back matches since a home win over Lamar, Oct. 10, at the McDermott Convocation Center.

Autumn Lockley (3.10 k/set), Shaina Garza (2.32 k/set), Taylor McClelland (5.56 a/set) and Kaitlyn Brooks (4.71 a/set) lead the Cardinals' offense. Bryaunea Hall (0.97 b/set) and Sarea Alexander (0.78 b/set) are the squads top blockers. Claudia Hernandez (3.48 d/set), Garza (2.59 d/set) and Lockley (2.54 d/set) are UIW's top defenders along the back row.

ACU (4-17, 4-4 Southland), which hosts the University of New Orleans Thursday evening, has also dropped back-to-back matches.

Jennifer Loerch (3.29 k/set), Kendall Bosse (2.16 k/set) and Sarah Siemens (9.17 a/set) are the offensive leaders for the Wildcats. Lauren Walker (0.96 b/set) and Lexi Mercier (0.91 b/set) are the top blockers on the team. Madison Hoover (4.74 d/set) and Siemens (2.42 d/set) are ACU's top back-row defenders.

Following the trip to Texas, Southeastern returns to the University Center for six of its final seven regular season matches.
