Box Score NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team fell, 25-18, 25-19, 25-16, in straight sets to Tulane, Thursday at Devlin Fieldhouse, in the opening match of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Classic.
Southeastern (2-6) struggled offensively, posting a .021 attack percentage, as Tulane (1-6) posted 11 team blocks.
Morgan Miller served up an ace to start the match, giving Southeastern 1-0 lead, but the Green Wave quickly evened the score and took the lead. The Lady Lions stayed within three or four points for the majority of the set, but never regained the lead.
The Lady Lions called a timeout after Tulane scored the first six points in the second set, putting together a three-point run to cut the lead in half. The Green Wave powered out to a nine point lead late before SLU rallied for four-consecutive points to pull within 19-14.
Down 15-4 in the third set, Southeastern strung together five-consecutive points off the serving of
Parrie Hartley and forced the Green Wave into a timeout.
Shelby Devlin (five kills, .385 attack percentage) and
Elizabeth Ramee (five kills) led the Lady Lion offense. Mikayala Shippy handed out a team-best 10 assists.
Morgan Todd's 12 digs led the team.
Tea Juric led all players with 13 kills while Lauren Etta dished out 33 assists to aide Tulane's offensive effort. Grace Weaver's 15 digs were a match high.
Southeastern returns to the court at Devlin Fieldhouse, Friday at 4:30 p.m., against Florida Atlantic (5-2). Prior to facing the Lady Lions, FAU will face Howard at 10 a.m. to open the day's action.
