NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team dropped a 67-59 decision in Southland Conference play Thursday at the University of New Orleans, snapping the Lions two-game winning streak.

Southeastern (11-14, 6-8 Southland) led the game for most of the first half, taking a 27-23 lead into the locker room at the half. In the second half, however, UNO (11-11, 8-6 Southland) picked up its shooting  and extended its lead to 13 with 8:09 to play on a layup by Kevin Hill.

Fighting off a 12-0 run by the Privateers, Southeastern eventually narrowed the deficit to four points with 4:18 to play following back-to-back three pointers by JaMichael Hawkins and Julian Chiera.

Senior forward Antonnio Benton led the Lions with 16 points and five rebounds. Chiera added 10 points while Dre Evans and Hawkins contributed nine points apiece. Southeastern converted 19-of-46 shots from the floor (41.3 percent), but was out-rebounded 35-24 in the game.

Hill recorded a double-double (18 points, 13 rebounds) en route to leading all players in scoring. Tevin Broyles contributed 17 points. UNO sank 50 percent of its shots from the floor (23-of-46).

Southeastern returns to the University Center next week for its final two home games of the season. The Northwestern State (Feb. 27) contest, which is part of the Southland broadcast package and will be carried live on ESPN3, is Jam the Jungle and a Cane's Challenge game. The March 1 conference matchup with Stephen F. Austin is Senior Day.
