CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – A comeback attempt by Southeastern Louisiana ran short on time, Saturday, as the Lions dropped a 63-59 decision to Southeast Missouri at the Show Me Center.

Southeastern (2-7), which never led in the game, trailed SEMO (4-4) by as a much as 14 late in the first half before turning things around.

The Lions' shooting improved twofold after halftime, jumping from 28.6 percent (8-of-28) overall in the first half to 57.1 percent (12-of-21) in the second half.

Southeastern closed within a pair on a Joshua Filmore three pointer with 3:29 remaining and again at the 1:43 mark on a Zay Jackson layup, but that was as close as the Lions would come.

Daniel Grieves, a native of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, led the Lions in scoring with 14 points. Zay Jackson dropped in 12 and DeVonte Upson added 10 points. Onochie Ochie grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds, falling one shy of tying a career best.

Jarekious Bradley poured in a game-high 21 points for SEMO. Antonius Cleveland (12) and J.J. Thompson (11) also scored in double digits. Aaron Adeoye grabbed 14 rebounds to lead all players.

Southeastern shot 40.8 percent overall (20-of-49), including 37.5 percent from three-point range (6-of-16). The Lions converted 13-of-20 free-throw attempts (65 percent).

The Redhawks hit on 38.1 percent of their shots (24-of-63), including 20 percent from beyond the arc (5-of-20). SEMO sank 10-of-15 (66.7 percent) from the free-throw line and out-rebounded the Lions, 50-28.

Southeastern will take the next week off for final exams, returning to the court, Dec. 16, when it travels to Texas-El Paso for an 8 p.m. non-conference contest.
