BEAUMONT, Texas – Two first-half goals by Kimmy Albeno were too much for the Southeastern Louisiana women's soccer team to overcome in a 2-0 loss to Lamar in Southland Conference action Sunday afternoon at the LU Soccer Complex.
Southeastern (10-3, 3-2 Southland) closed out its three-match road swing with its second straight loss and was shutout for the first time this season. Lamar improved to 4-7-1 overall and 2-2-1 in league play.
The Lady Lions were able to create opportunities, finishing the match with a 25-15 shot advantage. However, Lamar senior goalkeeper Bailey Fontenot was credited with 13 saves to keep SLU off the board. Junior

"We were controlling the action early on, but that changed when they scored to take the lead," Southeastern head coach
Blake Hornbuckle said. "We were able to create some great chances, but could not find the net."
Lamar took the lead for good in the 14
th minute on a counter attack. Albeno took a feed from Taylor Mitchell and sent a shot past SLU sophomore

A foul late in the first half led to Lamar's second goal. Albeno was awarded a penalty kick and finished to put the Cardinals up, 2-0, heading into the break.
In the second half, Southeastern was able to manage 11 shots and four corner kicks. However, Fontenot held strong with six saves in the final 45 minutes.
