HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team opens a four-game homestand this week with a Southland Conference contest Thursday at 7:30 p.m. against Incarnate Word.

Fighting through injuries to key players, Southeastern (5-8, 0-2 Southland) dropped a pair of conference games this past week at McNeese State and Nicholls State.
Junior guard
JaMichael Hawkins (11.8 points per game) leads the Lions in scoring.
Antonnio Benton (11.4 ppg, 6.8 rebounds per contest) is seventh in the conference in rebounding. As a team, the Lions are averaging 68.4 points, on 42.7-percent shooting, and 33.6 rebounds. Opponents are averaging 72.9 points, making Southeastern's scoring margin eighth-best in the conference.
Dre Evans (3.2 assists per game) and
Joshua Filmore (2.6 apg) have split time at the point directing the Lions' offense.
UIW (12-1) heads into its first Southland game riding a seven-game win streak. Kyle Hittle (18.9 ppg) is one of three players averaging double-digit points. He is joined by Denzel Livingston (17.5 ppg) and Sam Burmeister (11.8 ppg), son of the Cardinals' head coach Ken Burmeister. Ian Markolf is second-best rebounder in the conference (8.5 rpg).
Southeastern continues a four-game, conference homestand with a pair of contests against Sam Houston State (Jan. 16) and Lamar (Jan. 18).
