Southeastern Falls At Memphis; Bunn Named To All-Tournament Team

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team dropped a pair of tight sets to Memphis Saturday in falling by scores of 25-15, 25-23, 26-24, at the Memphis Invitational.

Southeastern (2-5), which split a pair of matches during the tournament's first day, posted its second-highest block totals of the season with 11 total team blocks against Memphis (4-2).

Tiffany Thomas led the Lady Lions with a solid, all-around performance. The sophomore transfer from Friendswood, Texas, recorded 12 kills, five block assists and six digs. Freshmen Landry Bullock and Rachael Bunn each posted eight kills while Bunn recorded a career-best eight total blocks (two solo, six assisted).

Mikayla Shippy dished out 28 assists and eight digs, finishing second on the team behind Brooke Balser (10 digs).

Megan McMillin, a senior from Shorewood, Ill., posted seven digs and moved into tenth-place on the Lady Lions' career digs list with 1,005. McMillin is one of 11 players in school history to record at least 1,000 digs.

Lauren Hawkins and McKenzie Hayes each tallied 10 kills for the Tigers while Veronica Zimmerman handed out 37 assists. Aleksandra Petronijevic led all players with 17 digs.

Southeastern's Bunn was a unanimous selection to the All-Tournament team, joining Ashley Forman (Alabama A&M), Hawkins, Jordan Timmerman (Western Carolina) and MVP Morgan Cochran (WCU).

During the tournament Bunn averaged 2.60 kills per set on a .333 attack percentage and 1.00 blocks per set. The freshman from San Juan Capistrano, Calif., is second on the team in blocks and third in kills this season.

The Lady Lions wrap up a four-game road trip Tuesday with a 7 p.m. contest at Southern Miss.
