Southeastern Volleyball Sweeps Through UNO For Third-Straight Win

Lady Lions stay alive in hunt for tournament bid

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team extended its Southland Conference winning streak to three matches with a straight-sets victory Saturday over the University of New Orleans, 25-16, 25-8, 25-19.

Southeastern (10-16, 4-10 Southland) also picked up its 10th win of the season, marking the second-consecutive year the Lady Lions have earned double-digit victories.

The Lady Lions dominated in all facets of the game. Southeastern recorded a .293 attack percentage, holding UNO (3-24, 0-14 Southland) to -.028 as a team, and posted nine team blocks. Freshman middle blocker Rachael Bunn led all players with 10 kills, posting a .625 percentage and four total blocks.

Joining Bunn on the attack, Parrie Hartley added eight kills while Elizabeth Ramee contributed six for Southeastern. Mikayla Shippy dished out 33 assists to aid in the offensive effort. Brooke Balser led the Lady Lions with 13 digs while Megan McMillin and Morgan Todd each chipped in 11 digs.

Shippy and Lindsay Grace contributed three total blocks while Shelby Devlin added a pair of blocks to Southeastern's effort at the net.

Marty Richmiller (six kills), Taylor Berry (five kills) and Ariane Labrzycki (18 assists) led the UNO offense while libero Lauren Levy led all players with 15 digs.

Enterring the final two weeks of the regular season, Southeastern is two games out of the final conference tournament spot with four Southland matches left to play. There is currently a three-way tie for the final two spots with Lamar, McNeese State and Stephen F. Austin all tied at 6-8 in conference play.

Southeastern will wrap up the home portion of its 2013 schedule with three matches at the University Center in the coming week. The Lady Lions will host Jackson State (Tues.) and Stephen F. Austin (Thurs.) while Northwestern State (Nov. 9) will be the Senior Day opponent.
