Southeastern Hosts UNO In Southland Volleyball Match

Lady Lions continue six-match homestand

HAMMOND, La. – In the midst of a six-match homestand, the Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team hosts the University of New Orleans at 2 p.m. Saturday in a Southland Conference contest.

Southeastern (9-16, 3-10 Southland) is fresh off a sweep of conference newcomers Abilene Christian and Incarnate Word to open the final stretch at home.

The Lady Lion offense is led by Tiffany Thomas (2.90 kills per set), Landry Bullock (2.51 k/set), Parrie Hartley (2.26 k/set), Rachael Bunn (2.01 k/set, .321 attack percentage) and Mikayla Shippy (9.22 assists per set). Bunn is fifth in the Southland in attack percentage. Shippy is sixth in assists.

Veronica Turk (0.88 blocks per set), Bunn (0.78 b/set), Shelby Devlin (0.75 b/set), Bullock (0.70 b/set), Morgan Todd (4.32 digs per set), Brooke Balser (2.61 d/set) and Megan McMillin (2.40 d/set) lead the defense. Southeastern is sixth in the conference in blocks (1.99/set) while holding opponents to a .183 hitting percentage. Todd is seventh in digs.

UNO (3-20, 0-13 Southland) has lost its last seven contests dating back to a straight-sets victory over Alcorn State on Oct. 8. Marti Richmiller (2.10 k/set) and Celeste Ramirez (5.68 a/set) pace the Privateer offense while Lauren Levy (3.56 d/set) anchors the defense.

Southeastern will wrap up the home portion of its 2013 schedule with three matches in the coming week. The Lady Lions will host Jackson State (Tues.) and Stephen F. Austin (Thurs.) while Northwestern State (Nov. 9) will be the Senior Day opponent.
