HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team grabbed a thrilling five-set, Southland Conference victory Thursday over newcomer Abilene Christian, 27-25, 25-17, 16-25, 18-25, 15-12.

Southeastern (8-16, 2-10 Southland) got off to a quick start, taking the first two sets from the Wildcats. ACU (5-13, 1-9 Southland) fought back to take the next two and force a fifth set.

Freshman Landry Bullock recorded the first double-double of her career, recording a match-high 17 kills to go with 15 digs. Tiffany Thomas added 13 kills while Parrie Hartley chipped in 11. Mikayla Shippy dished out 40 assists. Morgan Todd led the Lady Lions with 20 digs and Brooke Balser contributed 15 to the defensive effort.

Jennifer Loerch posted a double-double (16 kills, 11 digs) to lead the Wildcat offense. Lexi Mercier recorded 14 kills and seven total blocks while Dorothy Swanson added 12 kills for ACU. Haley Rhoads handed out 26 assists and Sarah Siemens dished out another 23. Madison Hoover led all players with 32 digs while Caley Johnson and Madelyn Robinett contributed 11 digs.

Southeastern hosts Incarnate Word (10-9, 5-5 Southland) at 2 p.m. Saturday, prior to the homecoming football game against Lamar. A volleyball alumni reunion will be held in conjunction with the homecoming festivities.
