Lady Lions Victorious On Lakefront Trip

Southeastern picks up first Southland Conference of the season

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team rode one of its best offensive efforts of the season to a Southland Conference victory Tuesday at the University of New Orleans.

Southeastern (7-14, 1-8 Southland) posted a .246 team attack percentage as it knocked off the Privateers (3-19, 0-9 Southland), 25-21, 20-25, 25-15, 25-20.

Landry Bullock and Parrie Hartley (.458) each recorded 13 kills for the Lady Lions. Rachael Bunn and Veronica Turk contributed eight kills apiece. Mikayla Shippy handed out 39 assists while Brooke Balser posted a team-high 13 digs. Morgan Todd added 12 digs and Cherish Krohn  chipped in 10 for Southeastern.

The Lady Lions tallied eight team blocks with Turk (5 total blocks) and Hartley (four tb) leading the way at the net.

Marti Richmiller (11 kills, 12 digs) led UNO with a double-double. Kelsea Hundtoft and Alyssa Powell each added nine kills while Celeste Ramirez dished out 33 assists and added nine digs. Lauren Levy led the defense with 15 digs for the Privateers.

Southeastern travels to Lamar (6-14, 4-4 Southland) for a 7 p.m. Southland contest Thursday. Live statistics, courtesy Lamar, are available on the volleyball schedule page at www.LionSports.net.

Sierra Whitaker (3.48 k/set), Courtney Moore (2.39 k/set), Alexa Johnson (8.48 a/set) and Megan Schwartz (3.83 d/set) lead the Cardinals. Lamar is sixth in the conference with an average of 1.98 blocks per set.
