Box Score HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team defeated Grambling State in straight sets Tuesday at the University Center.
Southeastern snapped a seven match losing streak with the 25-9, 25-19, 25-21 victory.
Courtney Donald (.643 attack percentage) and
Shelby Devlin led the Lady Lions with nine kills each.
Becky Bekelja and
Mikayla Shippy each contributed 18 assists while
Megan McMillin led all players with 11 digs.
Grambling was unable to record back-to-back points in the first set as the Lady Lions dominated. Donald recorded five kills while powering Southeastern to a .522 team attack percentage.
Jumping up 19-10, Southeastern built another insurmountable lead. Grambling called a timeout, but despite outscoring the Lady Lions 9-6 the rest of they way, the Lady Lions headed to the lockerroom up 2-0 in the match.
The third set contained six tie scores, but Southeastern maintained a firm control on the momentum.
Zoe Douglas recorded five kills and
Jessica Rauch contributed four in the final set to lead the Lady Lions.
Grambling's Dorothy Brown led all players with 10 kills and Briliante Osborne added eight. Tori Wilson (10 assists) and Breonna Loud (nine assists) split setting duties while Kayla Lewis recorded 10 digs for the Tigers.
Southeastern hit .309 for the match, its second-best hitting performance of the season.
The Lady Lions return to Southland Conference play Thursday at Northwestern State.
