Lady Lions Host Northwestern State, UCA In Southland Volleyball

Southeastern opens longest homestand of the season

Courtney Donald and Paige Dollison look to lead Southeastern in matches against Northwestern State and Central Arkansas
HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team will have time to get used to playing in front of its home fans as the Lady Lions open a four-match homestand beginning Thursday against Northwestern State in the University Center.

First serve is at 7 p.m. Live statistics will be available at www.LionSports.net.

Southeastern (4-15, 0-2 Southland), which has played three matches at home this season, open its longest homestand of the season against Northwestern State (3-12, 0-3 Southland) before hosting league rival Central Arkansas (6-8, 2-1 Southland) on Friday at 7. The Lady Lions will continue their homestand against Nicholls State on Oct. 4 before concluding with Stephen F. Austin on Oct. 8.

The Lady Lions opened league play last week falling in four sets at Lamar before a three-set loss on Saturday at McNeese State.

Courtney Donald, who averaged 3.5 kills per set last week, leads Southeastern at the net with a 2.43 kills per set average. Kinsey Williams (2.27), Paige Dollison (1.97) and freshman Elizabeth Ramee (1.91) are next in hitting for Southeastern with Lindsey Young leading the team with 7.20 assists per set and 23 service aces.

Megan McMillin averages a team-high 3.39 digs per set for Southeastern while Dollison has recorded a team-high 49 blocks.

Northwestern State is led offensively by Stacey DiFrancesco with 3.38 kills per set with Emily Sweet averaging 8.47 assists. Keelie Arneson is the Demons' leader in digs per set (5.11) while Mackenzie Neely paces the team with 43 blocks.

UCA, which claimed the Southland Conference regular-season title last season, is led by Jessica Hays with 3.26 kills per set followed by Taylor Whileyman with 2.50. Marissa Collins paces the Sugar Bears with 8.87 assists per set while Cristin Curl averages a team-high 4.54 digs per set.
