HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team heads west to the state of Texas for its final regular-season tournament when it begins play Friday in the Houston Baptist Husky Classic.
Southeastern (4-9) will open tournament play against Louisiana Tech (6-6) in a 4 p.m. match on Friday before facing host HBU (10-3) at 7. The match with Louisiana Tech marks the third consecutive week the teams have meet with the Techsters winning the previous two matches – a five-set win two weeks ago in the South Alabama Jaguar Classic and a four-set decision last week in the Louisiana Tech Invitational.
The Lady Lions close out the tournament on Saturday when it faces Southern Miss (4-5) at 11 a.m. Live statistics, courtesy of HBU, will be available at www.LionSports.net.
The Lady Lions enter the weekend on a two-match winning streak, including a four-set victory over Louisiana-Monroe on Tuesday. Freshman
Elizabeth Ramee tied a season-high with 13 kills while
Paige Dollison and
Kinsey Williams added 12 kills each and
Courtney Donald 10.
Williams leads Southeastern in kills per set (2.38) and is followed by Donald (2.21), Dollison (2.02) and Ramee (1.89).
Lindsey Young paces Southeastern with 6.67 assists per set while
Megan McMillin leads the Lady Lions with 3.62 digs per set.
After concluding in the tournament, Southeastern will return home to host in-state rival Louisiana-Lafayette on Tuesday in a 7 p.m. match in the University Center.
