Sophomore
Michelle Duhe, sophomore
Kelsey Nichols and junior
Meghan Gomez had the only hits for Southeastern, which fell to 11-15 overall. Mississippi Valley State improved to 11-14 overall with its sixth straight victory.
MVSU took an early lead in the bottom of the second inning. Lady Lion freshman
Jessie Browne (5-5) hit Nicole Burr to lead off the inning and one out later, Shana Ladner ripped an opposite field home run over the right field fence to put Mississippi Valley State up, 2-0.
Ladner singled home two more runs in the bottom of the third inning off Southeastern sophomore
Kenna Terry. Taylor Pleasant tripled home the inning's final run to put the Devilettes ahead, 5-0.
Senior
Bailey Zievert had similar luck in the circle for the Lady Lions in the fourth inning. Alexandria Robertson singled in a run and then scored on a Zievert wild pitch to push the advantage to 7-0.
Southeastern mounted its best scoring chance in the top of the fifth inning. Spivey hit junior
Trish Bliss and freshman
Hali Westmoreland to put a pair of runners on. However, Spivey retired Nichols to keep Southeastern off the board.
Mississippi Valley State enforced the mercy rule in the bottom of the fifth inning. Pleasant doubled to lead off the inning and quickly attempted to steal third. Westmoreland's throw was too high for freshman
Aly Williams and allowed Pleasant to walk in with the game's final run.
