BATON ROUGE –
LSU sophomore pitcher Rachele Fico threw a perfect game and the No. 16 Lady Tigers handed Southeastern a 9-0 loss in non-conference softball action Wednesday night at Tiger Park.

The Lady Lions fell to 3-3 overall with the loss. The nationally-ranked Tigers remained perfect on the year, improving to 7-0 overall.

LSU jumped on top in the bottom of the first inning. Anissa Young singled home the first run and Tammy Wray followed up with a two-run home run off Southeastern sophomore starter Kati Morse (0-2) to put the Tigers up, 3-0.

Morse sat the Tigers down in order in the bottom of the second inning, before LSU added to its lead in the bottom of the third inning. A two-run home run from Young put the Tigers up, 5-0. Two batters later, Morgan Russell doubled home another run to chase Morse from the game.

LSU added three runs off Southeastern reliever Vicki Honeycutt in the fourth inning. Two runs scored on a RBI groundout by Simone Heyward. Wray closed out the scoring with an RBI single to provide LSU the final margin.

Fico was dominant, facing the minimum in five innings, as LSU enforced the mercy rule. Fico finished the game with seven strikeouts.

Wednesday's game was the start of the team's six-game road swing. On Friday, Southeastern will open play at the South Alabama Mardi Gras Classic, facing Tennessee-Martin at 10 a.m. in Mobile, Ala.
