HAMMOND – The Southeastern volleyball team continues its four-match road swing through the Southland Conference with a Saturday contest at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Lady Lions (4-20, 0-7 Southland) dropped their last match, in three sets, Thursday at Texas-San Antonio. The road trip continues next week for Southeastern with another pair of conference road matches.
Southeastern's leading hitters entering the match are
Courtney Donald (2.36 kills per set),
Kinsey Williams (2.18 k/set) and
Paige Dollison (2.11 k/set).
Lindsey Young leads the squad in assists (7.68 a/set) and the Lady Lion's leading defender is
Megan McMillin (3.43 digs per set). McMillin's average places her ninth in the Southland Conference.
The Islanders (10-13, 2-5 Southland) are one of the top defensive teams in the Southland Conference, averaging the most kills per set (17.09). TAMU-CC is also fifth in the conference with 1.95 blocks per set.
TAMU-CC is led by freshman Brianna Brink (2.53 k/set) and sophomore Brooke Alverson (2.36 k/set). The Islanders have five players averaging more than two kills per set. Setter Logan Bourque is averaging 9.23 assists per set and Micah Nolan's digs per set (5.18) are third in the Southland Conference.
Southeastern returns to the state of Louisiana Tuesday, when it travels to Nicholls State for a Southland Conference contest.
