HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team will finally end its 12-match season-opening road trip beginning Friday when it travels to Ruston to face Louisiana Tech in the Lady Techster Invitational at Thomas Assembly Center.

First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. After facing Tech (4-4) in the opening match, Southeastern (5-4) will conclude the four-team tournament on Saturday as it will face Grambling (0-4) at 10 a.m. and Centenary College (3-2) at noon.

Southeastern played its first midweek match of the season last Tuesday falling in three sets at Louisiana-Lafayette. The Lady Lions, who will battle South Alabama in their home opener on Tuesday and Southern on Sept. 16, are led on offense by Courtney Donald with 2.23 kills per set and a .224 hitting percentage.

Allison Jones (2.13 kills per set) is next for Southeastern followed by Taylor Buckner (1.67). Arianne Cruckshank paces the Lady Lions with 7.76 assists per set while Alex Greer (3.42 digs per set) and Chelsea Barr (3.13 digs per set) lead the Southeastern defense.

Louisiana Tech is led at the net by Taylor Fritz with a 2.81 kills per set average. Kassia Pinto (2.48) and Kara Jones (2.33) are next in kills for the Techsters with Bianca Bin leading the team with 7.89 digs per set and Lori Hunsucker averaging a team-high 5.00 digs.

Southeastern trails in the all-time series with Louisiana Tech, 5-1, but claimed a four-set victory last year in Ruston. The Lady Lions are 11-1 all-time against Grambling and 22-2 against Centenary.
