Stephanie Mueller added seven, but it was not enough as the Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team dropped a 25-20, 25-23, 25-12 decision to South Alabama in the 2010 Jaguar Classic on Thursday at Jag Gym.
Southeastern, which will return to action on Friday facing UNC-Asheville at 1 p.m. and Alabama A&M at 5, fell to 3-2 on the season while USA won its first contest to improve to 1-3.
Samia Salomao led the Jaguars with 14 kills while Juliana Almeida added 11. Jennica Hagberg added 38 assists for USA while Kari Frazier had 10 digs.
Freshman
Lindsey Young, a Pelham, Ala., native playing in her home state for the first time in her young collegiate career, led Southeastern with 15 assists while
Alex Greer had a match-high 11 digs. Southeastern hit .128 at the net for the match, opening at .125 (11-7-32) in the first set and .212 (12-5-33) in the second.
USA finished with a .286 hitting percentage for the match, including a scorching .476 (14-4-21) in the final set.
