RUSTON – Allison Jones came off the bench to pound out a team-high 11 kills while hitting a blistering .455 at the net, but it was not enough as the Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team fell to Louisiana Tech, 25-17, 25-18, 25-18, in the Techster Invitational Friday at the Thomas Assembly Center.
Taylor Fritz led Louisiana Tech (6-5) with 11 kills while Kara Jones and Jennifer Goodwin added nine each. The Techsters hit an impressive .305 at the net as a team while holding Southeastern (5-5) to .086.
Jones, Southeastern's leader in kills with 75, had one error in 22 attempts at the net.
Paige Dollison and
Stephanie Mueller had five kills each for the Lady Lions while
Arianne Cruckshank added 17 assists and
Lindsey Young 12.
Southeastern's
Chelsea Barr led all players with 22 digs.
Bianca Bin paced the Techsters with 34 assists while Lori Hunsucker had 16 digs and Goodwin 14. Five of the six starters for Louisiana Tech hit .308 or above with Jones (9-1-18) hitting .444, Goodwin (9-1-25) .320 and Fritz (11-3-26) .308.
Southeastern will return to action on Saturday with a pair of matches that will close out a season-opening 12-match roadtrip. The Lady Lions will face Grambling at 10 a.m. before concluding the weekend against Centenary College at noon.
