Lady Lions Improve To 3-1 With Wins Over UNO, ULM

Buckner, Donald lead the way for Southeastern on opening weekend

JACKSON, Miss. – Taylor Buckner recorded a team-high nine kills while hitting a blistering .529 at the net as the Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team defeated in-state rival Louisiana-Monroe, 26-24, 25-23, 25-22 to complete a two-match sweep on Saturday at the Jackson State Lady Tiger Invitational.

Southeastern, which improved to 3-1 on the season, opened the day with a 25-18, 25-17, 25-23 victory over Division I Independent UNO. The Lady Lions will return to action on Thursday when it faces South Alabama in the first-match of the South Alabama Invitational.

SOUTHEASTERN 3, UNO 0
Buckner opened her impressive day at the net recording 11 kills and hitting .364 at the net against UNO (0-2), which is in its first year in a transition to Division III. Courtney Donald added 11 kills for the Lady Lions, which hit .260 at the net and had 13 blocks.

Southeastern opened the match hitting .280 at the net against the Lady Privateers before hitting .538 (15-1-26) in the second set. Arianne Cruckshank recorded 29 assists for Southeastern while Alex Greer posted 11 digs.

Paige Dollison, Allison Jones and freshman Stephanie Mueller had five blocks each for the Lady Lions while five of the six Southeastern starters hit .267 or higher at the net.

Edina Dobi led UNO with nine kills while Lauren Massulla led all players with 19 digs.

SOUTHEASTERN 3, LOUISIANA-MONROE 0
Buckner made the most of her 17 attempts, producing a team-high in kills without committing an error. Donald added seven kills for Southeastern Dollison posted five. Greer notched eight digs to pace the Lady Lions with Buckner and Chelsea Barr adding seven each.

Southeastern hit an impressive .277 at the net, opening the match at a .375 clip before hitting .231 and .242 in the final two sets. Cruckshank added 26 assists and three service aces for the Lady Lions while Dollison and Donald combined for seven blocks.

Blanca Ocana led ULM (0-1) with a match-high 14 kills while Meghan McCoy had 24 assists and 10 digs. Christy Tribble added 10 digs for the Warhawks.
