FRISCO, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana University basketball standout
Patrick Sullivan was named the Southland Conference men's basketball player of the week, the league office announced Monday.
The award was the first of Sullivan's career and the first by a Lion in 2009-10.
Sullivan, a 6-foot-9 senior from Orlando, Fla., averaged 18.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game to help lead the Lions to wins last week over Central Arkansas and Nicholls. He scored a career-high 27 points against the Colonels while grabbing 12 rebounds for his 18th career double-double.
He was a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor in the first half as Southeastern led 42-40 at the break before pulling away in the second half for an 84-65 road victory. Earlier in the week, he scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a 60-53 win over Central Arkansas.
Sullivan passed former Lions Cecil Harris and Robert Cousin into 11th place on the career scoring list with 1,093 points. He blocked three shots to increase his school-record total to 231.
The team leader in scoring, rebounds, blocked shots and field goal percentage, Sullivan is ranked sixth in the Southland Conference in scoring (14.8), fourth in rebounds (8.4), seventh in field goal percentage (52.5 percent) and second in blocked shots (2.8).
Southeastern (12-8, 4-3 Southland) will return to action on Wednesday when it plays host to Texas State in a 7 p.m. contest at the University Center.
