BATON ROUGE – Freshman Taylor Buckner posted her first career double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs as the Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team posted a 25-15, 25-20, 25-16 win over in-state rival Southern University Tuesday night at Seymour Gym.

Jessica Srajer added eight kills for Southeastern (2-6) while Alex Greer posted a season-high 17 digs and added two of the Lady Lions' six service aces. Southern fell to 0-1 on the season.

Southeastern hit .333 in the opening set and finished at .194 for the match. Arianne Cruckshank led Southeastern with 22 assists while Lauren Mayer added 10. Srajer led Southeastern at the net with a .312 hitting percentage in 16 attempts while Buckner hit .259 in 27 attempts.

Candace Southall and Banaka Okwuone tallied five kills each to lead Southern. Sharlene Ruffin added 17 assists for the Lady Jaguars while Kirsten Buggage recorded eight digs.

Southeastern will return to action on Sept. 18 when it opens play at the Techster Home Tournament, hosted by Louisiana Tech. The Lady Lions will face Grambling in a 2 p.m. match before facing Louisiana Tech in the nightcap at 7 p.m.
