Box Score 2 RUSTON – Southeastern Louisiana senior

Arianne Cruckshank each posted a pair of double-doubles to lead the Lady Lion volleyball team to a pair of victories over in-state foes on day one of the Louisiana Tech Invitational Friday at the Thomas Assembly Center.
In the tournament's opening match, Southeastern (4-6) rolled past Grambling (2-6), 25-16, 25-10, 18-25, 25-18. Later in the evening, the Lady Lions capped the opening day of the tournament with a 13-25, 25-13, 25-20, 25-14 victory over host Louisiana Tech (8-5).
Southeastern head coach Julie Langford was very pleased with her team's performance on the tournament's opening day.
“We're really proud of today's effort,” Langford commented. “Our team executed at a level that allowed us to elevate our play. It was nice to see our student-athletes execute things that we've been working so hard on in practice.
“In tonight's match, our service was key in taking Louisiana Tech out of their offense,” Langford added. “We really came out flat in the first set, but were able to bounce back and play to our capabilities. Once we had the momentum, we did a nice job of really going after and finishing the win.”
In the opener, Southeastern was led by freshman
Alexis Braghini (14 kills) and Mayer (13 kills). The Lady Lions hit .193 for the match and Cruckshank posted a season-high 38 assists and 12 digs to post a double-double. Mayer also had a double-double with 11 digs, while teams dig leader junior
Alex Greerposted 11 digs.
Southeastern bounced back from a sluggish effort in the first set to roll past LTU. Senior
Jessica Srajer (13 kills, 11 digs), Cruckshank (43 assists, 10 digs) and Mayer (12 kills, 18 digs) posted double-doubles for the Lady Lions. Freshman
Kaprice Glover (12 kills) and Braghini (10 kills) each reached double-digit kills. Greer again paced the defense, finishing with a match-high 25 digs.
Southeastern will look to close out the tournament on a high note on Saturday, facing Tennessee-Chattanooga at 12 p.m.
