HAMMOND – Amberly Waits went a combined 4-for-5 with a pair of home runs and seven RBI as Louisiana Tech swept a doubleheader from Southeastern claiming the first game, 2-0, before recording a 10-1 victory in five innings Wednesday at North Oak Park.

Southeastern (7-9) returns to Southland Conference action beginning Saturday when it hosts Central Arkansas in a 3 p.m. twinbill. Louisiana Tech improved to 10-8 on the season.

GAME 1 – Louisiana Tech 2, Southeastern 0
Waits' two-run home run in the third inning would be enough for Tech pitcher Meghan Krieg (6-1), who scattered two hits and retired the first 10 batters she faced before walking Tamra Ladnier in the fourth.

Krieg, who fanned nine batters and walked four, held Southeastern hitless until Jordan Logan reached on a one-out infield single in the sixth. Heather Sherrill added a single for Southeastern, playing its first game at home since Feb. 15.

Tech broke a scoreless tie in the third as Heather Doiron led off with an infield single off Southeastern pitcher Catherine Gunther (1-4). After Emma Barnes and Danielle Sheridan grounded out, Waits belted a pitch over the right-field fence for her second home run of the season.

Waits and Doiron led the Techsters with two hits apiece while Sheridan and Jessica Kirby reached on singles.

Gunther gave up four hits and fanned one in five innings of action for the Lady Lions before Jenna Yoder pitched the final two innings, scattering two hits.

GAME 2 – Louisiana Tech 10, Southeastern 1 (5 innings)
Waits, who went 2-for-2 with five RBI in the nightcap, gave the Techsters a 1-0 lead in the first with a single up the middle before fueling an eight-run second inning with a grand slam.

The Techsters sent 12 players to the plate in the frame as Barnes drove in the first run of the inning with a bases loaded walk. Sheridan delivered a RBI single off Southeastern reliever Bailey Zievert to give Tech a 3-0 lead before Waits cleared the bases with her third home run of the year.

Tech again loaded the bases in the inning and Kirby scored on a groundout by Claire Gibson before Elizabeth Franklin later scored on a wild pitch for a 9-0 lead.

Southeastern got on the board in the fourth inning after collecting a pair of hits off Tech reliever Jordan Simmons. Meghan Gomez led off with a single and moved to second when Allyson McCubbins fouled out to deep left field. Two batters later, Katie Duhe laced an RBI double into left-center field to drive in Gomez.

Krissi Oliver (3-6) allowed two hits and fanned three in three innings for action for Louisiana Tech. Yoder (3-4) took the loss for Southeastern after giving up five hits in 1.1 innings.

McCubbins and Katelyn Thomason each collected hits for Southeastern in the nightcap. Zievert pitched the final 3.2 innings for the Lady Lions, scattering five hits.
