Sullivan's Career Night Lifts Lions Past UCA, 75-64

Southeastern gets second road win; host Nicholls State on Saturday

CONWAY, Ark. – Patrick Sullivan scored a career-high 22 points while grabbing 12 rebounds and blocking four shots and Southeastern Louisiana snapped a six-game road losing streak with a 75-64 win over Central Arkansas in a Southland Conference game Wednesday at the Farris Center.

Warrell Span added 13 points for Southeastern (9-10, 3-3 SLC), which recorded its second road win of the season and first since an 84-75 win at Southern on Dec. 2. UCA fell to 9-10 overall and 2-4 in the SLC.

Sullivan, who finished 8-for-14 from the floor and recorded his fifth double-double of the season, scored 12 points in the first half as the Lions erased a five-point deficit and building a 32-27 lead at halftime. UCA got as close as 32-29 on a jumper by Brian Marks, but the Lions used a 9-2 run that was capped on a 3-pointer by Robert Tibbs for a 41-31 lead.

Damon Forest, who came off the bench to add 10 points, gave Southeastern its biggest lead of the game, 64-47, with a fastbreak dunk before the Bears chipped away at the lead.

Chris Brown, who led UCA with 18 points and 13 rebounds, sank a 3-pointer with 54 seconds remaining that closed the gap to 67-61, but the Lions put the game away with six free throws down the stretch and a dunk by Span.

Southeastern held UCA to 21-for-63 (33.3 percent) from the floor and outrebounded the Bears, 48-35. The Lions finished 28-for-59 (47.5 percent) from the floor and blocked 10 shots as a team with Antonio Pope adding three off the bench.

The Lions forced 10 turnovers but recorded seven steals with Pope tallying a team-high three. Chris Cyprian dished out a game-high four assists and added two steals for Southeastern, which won for the fourth time in five meetings all-time against UCA.

Marcus Pillow added 17 points with Mitch Reuter scoring 15 for the Bears, who were outscored 22-2 in bench points.

Southeastern returns home on Saturday when it resumes SLC play against in-state rival Nicholls State at 3 p.m.
