LADY LION VOLLEYBALL HOSTS REMATCH WITH UL-MONROE

Southeastern hopes to make it two in a row against Warhawks

HAMMOND - After dropping a hard-fought five set match to Missouri-Kansas City on Saturday, the Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team (1-3) will try to get back on the winning track on Tuesday when the Lady Lions play host to the UL-Monroe Lady Warhawks at 7 p.m. at the University Center in Hammond.

The Lady Lions, who came out on top on Friday against the Warhawks by a score of 3-1 (12-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-13) in the opener of the Adidas Warhawk Bayou Showdown, will look to make it 2-0 against ULM in the second and final meeting of the year between the two schools.

Southeastern will be returning home for the first time since opening the season with a 3-1 (25-17, 25-11, 25-19, 25-23) loss to South Alabama on Aug. 30.

“Getting that first win of the year was big for us,” Langford said.  “Now we know that we can be successful against a team like Monroe, and now we get to face them at home.  So hopefully, that will give our girls some extra intensity heading into this match.”

However, the Lady Lions are not simply walking into Tuesday night's contest.  After a hard loss on Saturday, Langford said her squad is working on putting together consistent performances for the rematch with ULM.

“We've  been seeing different players giving us strong performances at different times,” Langford said.  “In our win over ULM, we still lost the first set.  We lost the first set against UMKC and battled back to take the next two.  Now what we want to see is all facets of our team come together so that we can come out strong and stay strong through an entire match.  That's what we need to focus on to help us get to the next level.”

Gametime is set for 7 p.m. at the University Center in Hammond.  Live stats will be available on www.LionSports.net and admission is free to all fans.
