Southeastern Volleyball Hosts McNeese State in Season Finale

Lady Lions look to play spoiler on Senior Day against Cowgirls

HAMMOND - With its hopes of advancing to its first Southland Conference Tournament berth since 2002 no longer in reach, the Southeastern Louisiana University women's volleyball team (10-17, 3-12 SLC) still has plenty to play for as the McNeese State Cowgirls (10-16, 6-8 SLC) head to Hammond for Senior Day in the Lady Lions' regular season finale.

After dropping a competitive 3-0 match to perennial SLC power Stephen F. Austin on Thursday, the Lady Lions finally fell out of contention for the eighth and final tournament spot.  However, with Southeastern saying goodbye to seniors Lydia Adeosun, LaToya Anthony and #Emilyn Jordan#, the Lady Lions will try to send the class of 2008 out a winner.

Meanwhile, With just one game separating McNeese, eighth-place Nicholls State and ninth-place Northwestern State, the Lady Lions have a chance to play spoiler against the seventh-place Cowgirls and better their 2007 win total by one game with a win on Saturday.

"We've talked about working on blocking and passing consistently and serving tougher against them, head coach Julie Langford said.  "We want to come out with a complete game and turn the corner against them.  We really want to close out this season with a win and help set a good tone for the offseason."

First serve between the Cowgirls and Lady Lions is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday at the University Center.  Prior to the start of the contest, the Lady Lions will hold a ceremony for its three seniors.  Admission is free for all fans.  Live stats will be available at www.LionSports.net.
