Southeastern at Alcorn State Box Score (.html format)

LORMAN, Miss. -
Three Lady Lion offense combined to hit .333 (44-18-83) and libero Alex Greer led the defense with 10 digs as the Southeastern Louisiana University women's volleyball team (9-12, 3-7 Southland Conference) rolled to a 3-0 win at Alcorn State by scores of 25-18, 25-16, 25-9 on Monday night.

The Lady Lions had their work cut out for them early on as the Braves forced eight tie scores and traded the lead with Southeastern three times in the first set.  However, with the score tied at 14-14, the Lady Lions put the first set to rest with an 11-4 run to claim a 25-18 lead and a 1-0 lead.

Senior middle blocker LaToya Anthony recorded six of eight kills, en route to a .545 hitting percentage on the night, come in Southeastern's first set triumph.

Southeastern kept their momentum going in the second set by jumping out to a 15-4 lead.  Sophomore outside hitter Allison Jones had four kills and a 1.000 hitting percentage in the second set to help Southeastern get out in front.

Alcorn State tried to rally with a late 8-0 run, but it was too little too late as the Lady Lions claimed a 25-16 second set win.

Looking for their third straight-set win of the season, Southeastern got out to another fast start in the third.  Junior right side hitters Jessica Srajer and Lauren Mayer as well as freshman setter Arianne Cruckshank each posted three kills in the third frame as the Lady Lions claimed an early 12-3 advantage.

Alcorn State made it an eight-point set when the Braves closed to within 12-4, but that's as close as the Lady Lions would let them get en route to a 25-9 win to ensure their third straight set victory of the season and second in three matches.

Southeastern will return to action on Thursday when the Lady Lions head north to face SLC East Division rival Central Arkansas.  First serve between the Bears and Southeastern is set for 7 p.m.  Live stats will be available at www.LionSports.net.
