King broke his own school and Southland Conference pole vault record after clearing 19 feet, 0.25 inches in taking second in the University Elite Division at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Saturday. King became both the first Lion and Southland vaulter to clear the 19-foot mark. He tied South Dakota’s Chris Nilsen at the height with Nilsen taking first, due to clearing the height in fewer attempts. They are tied for the best mark in the country this season.
