In his final Southland Conference Outdoor Championships, Young took home two gold medals and accounted for 25 points to help SLU to a third-place team finish. Young set a new meet record in the hammer throw, recording a distance of 228 feet, four inches and topping the previous league mark by nearly two meters. He also won the shot put (57-11.75) and finished fourth in the discus.
