Ruffin extended his streak of events with a victory in 2017 to six with wins in the high jump at both the LSU Bayou Bengal and South Alabama Jaguar Invitational. Ruffin cleared 7 feet, 1.5 inches to eclipse the indoor school record of 7-0.5 he set earlier this season at the LSU Purple Tiger. That mark tops the Southland and is tied for 16^th in the country this season. He also finished second in the long jump at 23-10.25. Ruffin went on to win the high jump at the Jaguar Invitational with a mark of 6-09.
