Villarreal was named the Southland Conference Player of the Year on Wednesday. She closed out her senior season with wins in both singles and doubles in SLU's Southland Conference Tournament match versus Northwestern State. She finished 2016 with an 18-3 overall record at No. 1 singles and 17-2 overall record at No. 1 doubles with Dalina Dahlmans.
