Gomez was the Lady Lions’ top performer at the plate this week, hitting .467 with three home runs, 6 RBI and six runs scored. On Saturday, she became the eighth student-athlete in school history to hit two home runs in a game, driving in five runs in a 15-2 win over Northwestern State. In Sunday’s series finale, her solo home run was one of a school-record three in the top of the third inning in the Lady Lions’ 8-0 win that gave Southeastern its first SLC series victory of the season. In her first season out of Alvin HS, Gomez leads the team in home runs, RBI and runs scored.
