Lafayette native Brennan Dumas joined the Southeastern women's basketball program as an assistant coach in July 2026 after serving as an assistant coach with the Southern University men's basketball team.
Dumas has spent his career learning from decorated collegiate coaches in men's and women's basketball. Most recently, Dumas has learned from Kevin Johnson, the 2025 Southwestern Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. During the Jaguars' 2025-26 season, the SWAC's second-ranked offense posted an 11-7 conference record with conference-leading averages in assists, steals, and turnovers.
Prior to coaching in Baton Rouge, La., Dumas spent two seasons learning from 2025 SEC Coach of the Year, Vic Shaefer with the Texas Longhorns women's basketball program. During Dumas' two seasons, the team won the 2024 Big 12 Tournament, claiming an SEC Regular Season Championship in 2025. The 2025 Longhorns squad proceeded to reach the Final Four of the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament.
Before coaching in Austin, Texas, the UL Lafayette graduate served as a student manager with the Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball program from 2020 to 2023. Under Head Coach Bob Marlin, the team won 59 games, including a Sun Belt Conference Tournament victory in Dumas' final season. With the Cajuns, Dumas worked in a variety of roles, including assisting with game film, and workouts.
