Competed in three meets at two different distances... Lone 5K of the season was at the Battle for New Orleans where he finished in 18:22.5... Best 8K time of the season was at the Watson Collegiate Classic, finishing in 30:53.8... Named to the Southland Conference Commissioner's Fall Honor Roll.
Sophomore Season (2023):
Ran in five races at three different distances for the Lions...Fastest 8K time was 31:02.8 at the Lion Up Invitational...Best 6K time was 21:18.9 at the LSU Invitational... Only 5K of the season was the UNO Cross Country Opener, coming home in 17:52.0...Finished the 8K course at the SLC Championships in 31:33.0.
Freshman Season (2022):
Ran in four races in three different lengths in his first collegiate campaign... First collegiate race was the 5K at the UNO Cross Country Opener, crossing the line in 20:40.0... Best 6K was the LSU Invitational, finishing in 24:13.4... Finished the season with his only 8K of the season at the SLC Championships, coming home in 32:12.0.
Prior to Southeastern:
Prepped at Catholic High in Baton Rouge... Was a member of the track & field for the Bears where he ran the 400-meter dash, 800-meter run, & 4x400-meter relay... Won a regional championship, district championship, & state championship while at Catholic... Was also a member of the photography club & learned to speak fluent Spanish while at Catholic.
Personal:
Born January 12, 2004 in Baton Rouge... Son of Willie Baunchand & Courtney Sanford... Has two younger siblings, Chloe & Zuri... Enjoys watching anime, being with friends, & taking pictures... Biggest sports thrill was watching live when Wayde van Niekerk broke the world record in the 400-meter dash at the Olympics... Most enjoys running the 4x400-meter relay and watching college football... Majors in kinesiology at SLU.
