HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University football, soccer and indoor volleyball teams are set for Southland Conference play, while the cross country and golf teams will also be in action during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
Fresh off last Saturday's 38-35 victory at FBS opponent ULM – the program's first win over an FBS foe in 36 tries – the Southeastern football team (2-2, 0-1 SLC) will continue its three-game road swing this week. The Lions will travel to Northwestern State for a 6 p.m. Southland Conference contest Saturday in Natchitoches.
The SLU soccer team (5-3-1, 1-0 SLC) will open its SLC road schedule Thursday with a 7 p.m. match at East Texas A&M. Southeastern returns home to host UIW Sunday at 1 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium. Sunday is a Green Out, so all fans are encouraged to wear green, and also STYSA Day, as all STYSA teams are invited to come cheer on the Lions.
The Lion indoor volleyball team (3-10) will open conference play with a pair of road matches this week. SLU opens the week with a 6 p.m. match at SFA Thursday, before traveling to Lamar for a 1 p.m. matinee Saturday.
The Southeastern men's and women's cross country teams will be back in action Friday, competing in the Azalea City Classic at 5:55 p.m. in Mobile, Ala.
The SLU golf team will continue play at the GMAC Invitational. The Lions are currently in 11
th place and will look to climb in the standings Monday and Tuesday in Hoover, Ala.
On the Air
This week's football, soccer and volleyball action will be televised on ESPN+. Saturday's football game will air on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM, The Boss 103.7 FM/WFPR 1400 AM).
The same affiliates will air this week's episode of Inside Southeastern Football with Frank Scelfo, which airs Monday at 7 p.m. at Brady's in downtown Hammond. Hosted by Scelfo and Allen Waddell, the show will cover all things Lion Football and, following the debut episode, will air weekly Mondays at 7 p.m.
