JACKSON, Tenn. – Southeastern Louisiana University sophomore David Marsh carded a tournament-low final round of 68 to earn a share of individual medalist honors at the season-opening Grover Page Classic, which wrapped up Tuesday at Jackson Country Club.
 
Marsh, a Baton Rouge, La. native in his second season with the Lions, vaulted his way to the top of the standings after a final round that included four birdies and an eagle on the par-5, 515-yard 17^th hole, after entering the day in a tie for 16^th place.
 
As a result of his play Tuesday, Marsh tied with UT Martin's Grant Phillips, Samford's Ryder Rasmussen and Middle Tennessee State's Jake Hopper atop the standings. The 2025 first team All-Louisiana selection is the first Lion to claim individual medalist honors since Viggo Hed won the 2024 Husky Intercollegiate.
 
Marsh led the entire tournament field in a pair of categories, as he was the only player with multiple eagles in the tournament and paced the field by shooting eight-under par for the week on par-5 holes. The entire Southeastern lineup was at its best on par-5s, shooting 10-under par – tied for best among the tournament field.
 
For the third straight season, the Lions finished seventh in the season-opening Grover Page Classic. Host UT Martin (-6) took home team medalist accolades, besting runner-up Samford by 11 strokes.
 
Hudson Partin was the next highest Southeastern finisher behind Marsh, finishing five-over par over 54 holes, which was good for a tie for 26^th place. Colby Sullivan, who represented SLU as an individual, got better as the tournament progressed and shot a two-under par 70 Tuesday to finish in 34^th place in the individual standings.
 
Preston Paulk (+11, T40th), Luca Rimauro (+11, T40th) and Hayden Webber (+15, T50th) also represented the Lions in the season-opening tournament.
 
Southeastern will be back in action Sept. 21-22 at the GMAC Invitational, hosted by UAB, Sept. 20-21, at Iverness Country Club in Hoover, Ala.
